Looking back to our hand painted project - GOLDEN ROAD BREWING - SACRAMENTO, CA

Back in May, 2018 Big City Signs completed this hand painted graphics and sign painting project in Sacramento CA. Golden Road Brewing created a beer garden and restaurant out of shipping containers. Big City was responsible for painted graphics.

Golden Road Brewing Sacramento - construction begins

The shipping containers are in place, the space just beginning to take shape. Below, blue base coat sprayed onto the containers.

Here we find Erick Roldan & Remy Chwae of the Big City crew planning out their work.

We used a paper pattern, a template was to transfer the blue zigzag pattern to the 40 ft wide sides of the containers. Tape it up, rub charcoal through the tiny holes perforated along the drawn pattern lines, then move it over & repeat. It was designed to repeat in a perfect flow, which it did a good job of.

The pattern goes on - no matter what the obstacle. Here we have, in addition to Erick & Remy, a local Sacramento sign painter by the name of John Dozier. A good guy, added lot to the project in the short time we had him.

More colors, more pattern…

I took on the task of painting the logos. No, no - that’s not an old homeless guy I hired… (hey, it was hot weather… don’t judge me, man 😉)

One of the staff was nice enough to take a photo and send it to me…

So how did it end up looking? Here… take a look…

We did work hard, but had a good time doing it. Very grateful to Signage Solutions and Golden Road Brewing for entrusting the project to Big City Signs.

Finally, here is how the paper pattern looked at the end of the project. I ended up calling it Franken Pattern… RIP, Franken Pattern, and thank you for your service.

You might be thinking about getting this kind of project done, Do you know where to start? I can tell you - contact me, Paul Borne (president of Big City Signs) to find out more.
